Glamour - Stars and P&M
Sixty years ago, Cannes was a sleepy fishing village; nothing like the glamorous stretch of Côte d'Azur we know today. Nowadays when we hear the name “Cannes”, we instantly associate it with palm trees, movie stars, the red carpet of the “Palais du Festival”, and most importantly, the “Palm d’Or”, the prize awarded to the best film of the festival.
For the second year running P&M was in the middle of the action. In direct support of HP, one of the festival’s main sponsors, we managed a wide range of digital imaging and hosting activities.
In commemoration of the last 60 years of the festival, using HP large format photo printers, we produced an outdoor retrospective photo exhibition (“Starway”) consisting of nearly 70 photos. The images were carefully selected in cooperation with the festival organisers, digitally printed in Germany and then mounted and displayed in the gardens in front of the legendary Majestic Hotel.
This year’s images of the stars on the red carpet were captured by our exclusively appointed professional photographer. With over 15 years experience on the red carpet, his knowledge proved invaluable in capturing the most compelling moments of the 60th anniversary of this legendary festival. By the time the stars and corporate guests were awake and recovering from the previous evening’s festivities, we had selected, printed and exhibited the previous day’s most memorable moments in a specially created beach front gallery.
In Cannes, the red carpet is not exclusively the domain of the rich and famous. Some corporate guests are also fortunate enough to share this hallowed ground with the movie stars. As hosts, it was our job to ensure that these VIP’s experience was as inviting and glamorous as possible. And in order to make a more lasting impression, their journey up the red carpet was also captured by our star photographer.
We printed these photos along with hundreds of others in a purpose built photo studio on the beach. This professional photo service formed the core of not only a technical showcase, but an environment to contemplate and discuss beautiful photography, inspirational films and the unforgettable surroundings.
Our film crew began documenting all of the preparations and behind the scenes activities well before the Festival began in order to demonstrate, in the form of video case studies, our client’s products and solutions in real life applications. This film, along with a second “Festival Highlights” production were used as corporate communications for worldwide employees, international press and industry trade show guests.
